My Clean 9 Journey- Day 2

clean-9-C9-forever-living-cleanse-1

On day 1 I took my measurements and guessed at my weight (I was weighed in the last 10 days at two doctor’s offices, so used that number given at both), plus gave a little history about the business C9 is part of, Forever Living.

Day 2: For the next two days the following meal plan is suggested. There is actually no meals eaten however there are plenty of ‘free’ foods to eat if you are hungry or just need to chew. I began the C9 adventure without keeping this in mind and was pretty hungry by 3pm when I had my shift meal break at work. Breakfast began with supplements of Garcinia Cambogia (2 pills) and Therm (1 pill), with a 4oz. drink of Aloe Vera jell.

From Web MD  :

Garcinia cambogia may interact badly with:

You definitely don’t want to use it when you’re pregnant or nursing, or if you have kidney or liver problems. It is possible that manic symptoms may emerge as a side effect.

To Buy or Not to Buy

Since study results are mixed, you should talk with your doctor to help you decide if taking garcinia cambogia is a good idea. Even if it’s safe, it may not help you lose much weight.

I trust Web MD as a trusted source of medical information. This supplement is not a wonder pill by any means, it won’t have you losing massive amounts of weight in the nine day cleanse. From the C9 booklet these supplements and meal plan

are designed to reset your body and mind.

Forever Therm ™ has green tree extract and green coffee bean extract, as well as Guarana seed extract which provides a large amount of caffeine in one pill form. There are two pills a day, one taken at breakfast and one taken at lunch. I could not find information about Forever Therm on Web MD but was able to find it at Consumers Compare. This is what the web site stated:

There was absolutely no word about losing weight here. Due to the caffeine affect the pills have on the consumer, you will feel yourself with more energy. With heightened energy from supplements, comes the potential for a hard crash, which has been said to happen when taking the Forever Therm supplement. It left people with massive headaches and the jitters strictly due to the fact that it is 95% caffeine. This pill is not going to do the trick when it comes to losing weight and keeping it off.

There are so many interaction warnings about Guarana Seed Extract on Web MD that I will add the link (here) and let you decide if this supplement is right for you as you go through the cleanse.

At a snack time you take a fiber supplement that dissolves easily into water. A fiber supplement is not a cure all for bad eating habits already established before a cleanse of this type is considered. Web MD has this to say in conclusion about fiber supplement consumption:

Talk to your doctor about possible interactions between fiber supplements and any medicines you’re taking. Because fiber slows down digestion, it may decrease the rate at which some drugs are absorbed.

Several studies suggest you shouldn’t combine fiber with drugs that treat depression, diabetes, high cholesterol, thyroid disorders, seizures, and various heart ailments. Even common medications like aspirin, ibuprofen, and penicillin can be affected by an increase in fiber. Your best bet: Take your meds either 1 hour before or 2 hours after eating fiber.

Thankfully I went into the C9 cleanse fairly healthy. Although recently I have had issues with my feet and have been to the doctor to have them seen to, and I’ve also been tested for Diabetes because it runs in my family, I am in overall good health.

At at lunch there are 2 garcinia pills and 1 Therm pill. At this time you will also consume 4 oz of Aloe Vera and a Forever Lite Ultra shake.

At dinnertime you take 2 more garcinia extract pills and 4 oz of Aloe Vera drink.

In the evening time you take another 4oz of Aloe Vera drink before bed.

Overall, I followed the plan, only missed one 4oz Aloe Vera drink because I didn’t take it to work with me, and didn’t realize I couldn’t eat at least one meal during the first two days. I did watch my calorie intake and enjoyed a can of wild caught tuna fish (no add-ins) with a handful of roasted almonds. It rained like a tropical storm here today, so I didn’t get in a 30 minute brisk walk as I had planned to. My goal is to get back to walking on a regular basis, so I will make this a priority within the nine day cleanse. I will strive to follow the plan and get myself back into daily exercise and healthier eating habits.

My Clean 9 Journey- A Nine Day Cleanse

June 5, 2017

Today I begin my 9 day journey with C9, a Cleansing Program by Forever Living. As a customer and a business representative with Forever Living, my goal is to use and experience as many of the products they provide and be a spokesperson for my team as their leader and representative.

Forever Living is a company that has been in business for over 35 years and was founded in Arizona by Rex Maugahan in 1978.

His plan was simple. Offer consumable products to the public that are proven to promote lasting wellness and health—and do it in a personal way. Today, the results speak for themselves as Rex continues to lead a company that is unlike any other on earth—a company that changes lives through its amazing products, stable business model, worldwide growth opportunities and charitable ventures.  https://foreverliving.com/page/journey/our-company/usa/en

This post begins with Day 1:

On the first day my measurements are:

  • Chest: 36 inches
  • Biceps: 10 inches
  • Waist: 36 inches
  • Hips: 40 inches
  • Thighs: 20 inches
  • Calves: 14 inches
  • Weight: 150+/- lbs.

In the C9 box there are 2 bottles of Aloe Vera gel drink, a measuring tape, 1 Forever Lite Ultra powder, and a box containing enough dietary supplements; Forever Garcinia Plus and Therm for three meals each day, and 9 packages of fiber powder. I will start on the supplements tomorrow, as today I am getting myself prepared to start the cleanse.

I currently eat a 75% vegetarian diet. I have one cup of coffee in the morning, a 16 oz glass of water (sometimes more) and a Forever Lite shake mixed with Almond milk. Often I also drink 60cc of Aloe Vera juice. I’ve been doing this for over a month now. Later in the morning, perhaps around 11am, I will consume a first meal. Sometimes it is breakfast (egg, oatmeal or banana and a cereal bar) and sometimes it is lunch. I eat dinner at work if I’m working, this may happen 3x’s a week. Otherwise I fix something at home or go out for a cheap bite to eat.

I am following the C9 booklet in PDF form (copy and paste in your browser):  http://image.email.foreverliving.com/lib/fe931372756d017875/m/2/cfcaa3a6-a843-4a5b-9b88-4e78753060ef.pdf

My plan:

To follow the guidelines set forth in the C9 Guide for a good all over re-set. I work at 2 jobs and am working my Forever business, so I also would like to find time to walk each day. I’d like to lose 5 -10lbs but know that more exercise may be required to lose that much weight. Any weight loss will be seen as a success. I want to sleep better and feel better about myself, and get back into a healthy routine with food, supplements, and exercise after the last two months celebrating my daughter’s wedding.

November 2016

My birthday just passed this week. A milestone in that I am now on the fast track of arriving at 50 the next go around. Wow in so many ways. I’ve accomplished a lot in these 49 years but I have so many more things that I’d like to do in the next 51 years! I am not ready to let go of all of my dreams and desires.

I joined a gym at the end of August and have been pretty consistent (up until two weeks ago when the retail work I do amped up my work hours) and I plan on hiring a trainer in January. January is a pivotal month; I will reach my year anniversary at work and I will be able to invest in my retirement which I don’t plan on until I am close to 80 years old. In this last year, I’ve made soft plans to prepare for the 2nd 50 years of my life. Not many people actually make these improvements to better their chances for another 50 years, yet I plan on leading an active and healthy life so I have needed to think in such a way. Or at least I believe I do.

I am wanting to learn gun safety and perhaps get into self-defense exercise by the summer of 2017. I may be a single woman for more years than I had hoped for and I feel if I plan to be alone, some knowledge of how to protect myself and feeling less vulnerable is a must. It also is the reason for joining the gym, to become physically stronger in my next decade or three or five of life. I get that inspiration from seeing men and women who have embraced strength training in their 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. I even saw a video on a 100 year old man running a race, yes, I want that to be me well into my elder years.

Unhealthy foods and habits need to be continually worked on. Many of those unhealthy choices stem from unhealthy thoughts about myself. I am a work in progress, and I will continue to improve not only my physical self but my mental self-defeating thoughts as well.

I will get back to reading and writing daily. At least two hours each day. I have to be diligent with schooling myself and since graduating from college last December, I haven’t been as much. I work in a monotonous job which wouldn’t challenge anyone over the age of six. If I strive to belong in intelligent conversations I need to work on my intellectual self daily.  One of my desires is to continue to blog, not as personal but as a knowledgeable person in my interests and passions. I have plenty of time in each day to work on these items. I live a simple and uncluttered life. I am looking forward to this year going towards my half century mark in life. I look forward to keeping this blog active and posting my results.
